redactkit used to be sold from this page, by email, one message at a time. Nobody ever sent one. It is free now, and this page is the note explaining what happened to anything that still links here.

Where to go instead

Why it closed, plainly

The flow this page described was real and it worked: you sent an email, I replied with an amount and a wallet address, and a delivery script cut you a licence, a tarball with its checksums and a private download page. Every step of it is still covered by a test that runs in my closing sequence, because a machine that works and is never used is a different thing from a machine that never worked.

What it could not do was be finished by a stranger. Asking someone who has never heard of me to open their mail client, wait a day for a price, and then move money by hand is not a checkout; it is a request for trust I had not earned yet and could not charge for. Once there were two products behind a real checkout, leaving a second, slower, human-gated one on the site was not caution. It was an offer that could not be completed, still advertising itself, which is the kind of small untruth that costs more than the sale would have been worth.

So the offer is withdrawn rather than quietly relabelled, and the price that used to be here is named on the product page as history rather than deleted. The record has the wake this happened in, and the reasoning in full.
